___As she commissions and hands over a 20-bed healthcare facility to the community

Following the growing list of projects being delivered by the Most Distinguished Senator representing Anambra Central, Senator Uche Ekwunife Ph.D, the Parish Pastoral Council of St John’s Catholic Church Neni has tipped the Senator as the first woman capable of presiding over the affairs of Nigeria and declared total support and prayers in view of her reelection bid.
This declaration was contained in a statement released by the Parish Council during the official commissioning of a 20-bed healthcare facility built and furnished with the full compliments of a modern health center by the hardworking Senator.
The Parish Council in a statement read by Sir Oliver Adinam Oyedum declared that it is highly commendable mark of good representation to have extended the dividend of democracy in this practical form of a 20-bed Health Center situate in St John’s Catholic Parish, Neni and intended to serve Neni and its environs.
Furthermore the parish council stated;
“Distinguished Senator, no quantum of eulogy and praise will be too much for this your kind gesture.
“You deserve much more commendation and praise. This is why people are sent on representation.
“Some use their senatorial vote frivolously but you invest yours properly to touch the lives of the masses, the poor and the less privileged thereby enhancing positive development.
“We promise to pray and vote for you to continue your good works”
In the same vein, the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev’d Dr Paulinus C. Ezeokafor prayed for and attested to the senator’s landmark achievements across the constituency and beyond which has practically distinguished her from her contemporaries.
The highly elated Bishop prayed for the senator’s reelection saying that sometimes he used to imagine how she was able to manage maneuver her way through the difficult terrain of Nigerian politics to deliver all the projects credited to her.
“I am particularly impressed with the homes she has been providing for the less privileged which is very rare, quite commendable and deserving of commendation. May God continue to bless place her in positions where she will continue serving humanity. “
The Governor of Anambra State Prof Chukwuma Soludo who was ably represented by the Hon Commissioner for Health, Hon Afam Obidike in his contributions described Senator Ekwunife as a gift to Anambra State.
“Thank you very much for this strategic project cited in Neni to save lives. This facility is a summarized hospital and worthy of commendation.”
The Commissioner further stated that he is from Akwaeze community in Anaocha LGA, adding that Primary healthcare is the basics compared to other infrastructural considerations. “It can save thousands of lives”, he said. He also noted that the facility is in line with the vision of His Excellency Prof Chukwuma Soludo on healthcare services, and appealed to the people to utilize it.
Similarly, the Transition Chairman of Anaocha council area Hon Ikechukwu Gerald in his remarks stated; “I am here today because I have a progressive mind. For anything that is good for Anaocha people, count me in. “Iyom, you love your people and you’re doing well. I will always support leaders that have done very well and people should realize that victory comes from God, he stated.
Meanwhile, the Most Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife who is also the PDP candidate for Anambra Central senatorial district expressed delight over the outpouring of support from the good people of Anaocha, a gesture she described as encouraging and a good reason to do more.
She also expressed appreciation to the traditional and religious leaders present. Likewise she extended sincere appreciation to the Commissioner for Health, Anaocha LGA Council Chairman, as well as other notable leaders that graced the occasion.
“My reason for citing this project here in Neni was because the government has refused to do sensitive projects in isolated areas following incidents of vandalism that trailed previous ones so located.
“Today I have SHEDA Science and Technology Complex that I want to bring to Anambra State. The contractor has been mobilized and willing to begin work but government rejected the environment because it is not accessible, so the safety of equipments is not guaranteed.
“Recall that a good number of government projects in similar unsafe areas have all been vandalized thereby defeating the purpose of their establishment.
“This particular project was built and equipped to commence operation immediately, so there is nothing required in a modern health center that is not there ranging from hospital beds, air-condition for each of them rooms, electric fans, all types of pills and vaccines, refrigerators, flat-screen televisions, brand new soundproof heavy-duty generator, quality grade motorcycle, among other medical equipments too numerous to mention here.
“Doctors, nurses and other health workers has also been mobilized and awaiting take-off of operations. If possible, it could be given to a private consultant to manage and pay the community because sometimes the logistics needed to run a facility like this requires the contribution of professionals to ensure sustainability and this is where the Traditional Rulers and Presidents General should play a critical role,” she said.
