The Transition Chairman Awka North LGA of Anambra State Hon ThankGod Anago has commenced distribution of relief materials and consequently initiated an empowerment scheme for the good people of Awka North.
This intervention is coming as the perennial flooding has once again reared its ugly head against communities located along the flood belt of Anambra State, but the early intervention of government authorities was intended to minimize the negative effects.
In line with his vision and responsibility as the TC Chairman Awka North LGA, Hon ThankGod Anago personally supervised the distribution of relief materials donated by State Emergency Management Agency; SEMA, to five communities in Awka North.
The TC Chairman who received a truck load of relief materials commended Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for this timely intervention as the distribution began at Ebenebe Civic Center before heading to Ugbenu, Ugbene and Awba Ofemili.
The Council Boss stressed that this won’t be the only relief materials that would be distributed to the people of Awka North, while assuring them that the Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s administration through other agencies have mapped out more palliatives and relief materials to be distributed to communities affected by flood.
While addressing the masses, the TC Chairman requested that names of indigent people, widows and unemployed youths be submitted for the first phase of empowerment to support business owners and farmers in the ten communities of Awka North LGA.
In wide jubilation, the various community leaders who came to receive the materials on behalf of their people, expressed gratitude to the TC Chairman for his timely intervention.
Some of the materials distributed includes rice, beans, Garri, brocade fabric, blanket, vegetable oil, etc.
In his remarks, the TC Chairman stated “wish to personally thank the traditional rulers, town Union President Generals, Councilors and women leaders who played a role in mobilising Ndi Awka North and coming out enmass to welcome the team.”
