Many residential buildings belonging to Ndigbo in particular are currently being demolished by Lagos State government at Abulado FESTAC Phase II and other marked locations.
This information was contained in 3 separate videos obtained by Citypost, one of which was captioned “Happening live at Abulado FESTAC phase II and dated 19th November, 2023.
According to information available to Citypost, the government claims that the buildings were not supposed to be erected in those locations given that it is either blocking the drains or spaces originally mapped out for access roads.
Although the lady who spoke in the video was urging Ndigbo to go back home, it is important to clarify the rationale behind the demolition exercise before jumping to conclusions.
In other words, property owners who are confident about the validity of their allocations should unite and seek justice from the judiciary because the chicken does not feed with the goat’s stomach.
With this development, it has become expedient for prospective real estate investors to ascertain the authenticity of properties before embarking on development to avoid this degree of avoidable loss.
Indeed, it is sad to think that someone could spend the sum of twenty million naira to acquire and develop a plot of land, only to lose everything including the furnishing due to a case of noncompliance to government building specifications.
Segments of the ongoing demolition exercise are contained in the video below.
