At the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child celebration, Pharm Mrs. Obianuju Obinna-Leke Ezenwanne, Pharmacist Director of Y-bae Pharmacy and Stores, Ngozika Estate, Awka, and Assistant Director in the Federal Ministry of Health, delivered an insightful lecture at St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Ikenga community, Anambra State. The event focused on “Menstrual Hygiene and Vision for the Future.”
Mrs. Obianuju Ezenwanne, along with her team, distributed sanitary pads to every female student and taught them how to use the pads properly. They were also given practical advice on preventing pregnancy when not ready, maintaining proper exercise routines, drinking enough water, and using painkillers with a doctor’s prescription during menstruation. The session also emphasized the importance of personal hygiene for overall healthcare.
In her appreciation, Miss Esther Nwokeke, the Deputy Senior Prefect, thanked Mrs. Ezenwanne and her team for the valuable training, which had equipped them with essential knowledge about menstrual hygiene and healthcare. She urged her fellow students to apply the lessons learned to ensure the event’s purpose was fulfilled.
Rev. Fr. JohnPaul Okechukwu, the School Manager, delivered a vote of thanks, commending the initiative and highlighting the significant impact of educating the girl child on addressing societal issues and reducing poverty. The event reaffirmed the unique value and potential of the girl child in building a better future.
