In celebrating the revered 22nd Ofala of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, CFR, mni, the Obi of Onitsha, Senator Uche Ekwunife joins the people of Onitsha, Ndigbo, and indeed all Nigerians in recognizing this grand occasion that upholds the beauty of Igbo tradition.
Ekwunife described the Ofala celebration as a significant cultural event that brings together indigenes, leaders, and admirers from far and near to pay homage to a heritage that continues to thrive under the wise leadership of Igwe Achebe. Senator Ekwunife extends her warmest congratulations to His Royal Majesty and commends his enduring contributions to Igbo culture.
The Ofala festival according to the SEGOF DG holds a cherished place in the Igbo traditional heritage, symbolizing the resilience and vibrancy of our customs. It is more than a ceremonial festivity; it is a time for reflection on our collective journey as a people. Under the guardianship of Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, the celebration has gained wider prominence, showcasing the strength and unity of the Onitsha Kingdom.
As the custodian of Onitsha’s revered ancestral monarchy, His Royal Majesty Igwe Achebe’s influence extends beyond the borders of Onitsha, reaching all of Igboland and Nigeria at large.
Senator Ekwunife urged government and citizens alike to continue upholding the dignity of our traditional institutions, as it serves as a foundation for community leadership and grassroots development. “Respect for the traditional institution fosters the unity and progress that is crucial to societal advancement”, she said.
