The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide, an offshoot of Alaigbo Achievers Legacy, stands as the foremost socio-cultural entity and umbrella body of Igbo Elders Council. Comprising elder statesmen, major stakeholders, opinion leaders, and thought leaders within Nigeria and the Diaspora, UNIEC Worldwide is an independent movement advocating for the restoration of Igbo identity, language, norms, values, tradition, and cultural heritage. It also champions the Igbo Think-Home Investment and Development Philosophy.
UNIEC Worldwide is a voluntary, non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-profit socio-cultural and civil society organization headquartered in Igboland with members worldwide.
Membership Criteria
Prospective members must:
1. Be recommended or elected and be members of UNIEC Worldwide in their respective state chapters within Nigeria or the Diaspora.
2. Possess integrity and impeccable character.
3. Demonstrate a commitment to the vision, mission, and objectives of the organization.
4. Uphold honesty, transparency, and prioritize Igbo interests over personal ambitions.
5. Include individuals of integrity such as former governors, lawmakers, religious leaders, traditional rulers, progressive professionals, and Ndigbo in the Diaspora.
Selection Process
Membership is based on public perception and confirmed through secret research by knowledgeable individuals to maintain trust in UNIEC Worldwide’s decisions and actions. This process ensures the promotion of unity and cohesion across the Igbo Nation.
