OLIGBO MULLS OVER GROUP’S PLEA TO JOIN ANAMBRA 2025 GUBERNATORIAL RACE

By Our Reporter

Former Anambra State governorship aspirant, Ike Oligbo, is carefully weighing the appeal from a youth group urging him to contest the November 2025 gubernatorial election.

The group, Anambra Youths for Democracy and Good Governance (AYDGG), made the call during a courtesy visit to Oligbo’s country home in Umuoji, Idemili North LGA. Led by Barr. Chidi Ozoekwe, the delegation, which came from Awka, expressed their confidence in Oligbo’s leadership capacity and vision for the state and stated that amongst all the Gubernatorial aspirant and candidates Oligbo was top of the pack.

In response, Oligbo, through his spokesman Comrade Arinze Nweje, appreciated the group for their visit and their commitment to the state’s progress. He acknowledged that extensive consultations have been ongoing and assured them that his decision would be made public soon.

A lawyer and international business leader, Oligbo has built a reputation for his dedication to community development, particularly in infrastructure, women’s empowerment, and youth capacity-building.

Since his 2021 gubernatorial bid under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he has remained engaged in conversations about Anambra’s future, evaluating the best ways to contribute to the state’s progress.

In a statement read by Comrade Nweje, Oligbo commended the developmental and security efforts of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo but stressed that more work remains, particularly in the area of security, to position Anambra as a model state in Nigeria.

According to Comrade Nweje, Oligbo is reviewing and updating his development roadmap, originally published in 2021, to align with current realities and ensure that his vision for Anambra remains relevant in addressing the state’s pressing needs.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2025 election, his potential candidacy signals an ongoing dialogue on how best to advance the developmental interests of Ndi Anambra.
