The Anambra Central People’s Forum, a registered Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization championing the revival and preservation of the dying Igbo Mother Tongue, has lauded HRH, O. D. Ezeani, Igwe Ugonabu of Neni Kingdom and Chairman of the Anambra Central Council of Traditional Rulers.
They described him as an enigma in the traditional circle, possessing candor and humility worthy of emulation. The group also praised him as a philanthropist of great value, a rare individual with a good heart and a beautiful spirit.
In a press release made available to journalists in Awka and signed by its Chairman, Achebe Chris, Esq., the group stated:
“With a generous spirit and profound understanding of the power of Igbo language education, HRH, O. D. Ezeani (Igwe Ugonabu) has graciously accepted to offer philanthropic support to the 4th edition of the Year 2025 Prof. Pita Ejiofor Annual Igbo Essay Competition for Secondary School Students in Anambra State.
“Hailing from a proud Igbo heritage in Neni, Anambra State, Igwe Ugonabu’s journey is a testament to the relentless spirit and determination that define our culture.
“From his roots in a traditional Igbo household to his impressive career as a successful entrepreneur, HRH, O. D. Ezeani has continually demonstrated excellence and resilience. Notably, he has made significant strides in community service and human capital development.
“Igwe Ugonabu’s dedication to community service and his unwavering commitment to enriching his community make him a beacon of hope and pride for Ndigbo. His profound accomplishments continue to inspire and uplift us all. He is a true son of the soil whose remarkable contributions are making a lasting impact on Igboland and beyond.”
The statement continued:
“It is a unique privilege that we shall remember forever, and it gives us strength and courage as we collectively dedicate ourselves to salvaging the Igbo language from extinction. HRH, O. D. Ezeani has never left anyone in doubt about his love for his culture and proud Igbo heritage.”
On his part, one of the patrons of the Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, former Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Founder of the Otu Suwakwa Igbo (Nig.) Initiative, Prof. Pita Ejiofor, commended HRH, O. D. Ezeani, Igwe Ugonabu of Neni Kingdom, for his uncommon benevolence toward Igbo language education. He emphasized that this support will help students develop a stronger sense of their cultural identity, ensuring the sustained growth of the Igbo race for generations to come.
He further urged the people to continue praying for “a distinguished, accomplished, and respectable traditional ruler under whose leadership we have witnessed a revitalized traditional institution strengthened by unity and a shared commitment to advancing the Igbo nation.”
