In a landmark initiative aimed at boosting education and empowering young minds, the member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Udeogalanya Aniekwe (Macpee), has awarded scholarships to over 50 students and distributed multi-million naira worth of computers and school bags to schools within his constituency.

Macpee’s latest educational intervention was disclosed by the Rep’s Media Team on Saturday. The event, which took place at Ovuakwu Primary School, Otuocha Umueri, marked the first phase of his Educational Empowerment Programme and was attended by students, parents, school officials, and community leaders.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Aniekwe emphasized the crucial role of education in the advancement of society. He noted that his decision to pay the WAEC fees of selected students was driven by the need to alleviate financial burdens on parents and ensure that talented students can pursue their academic dreams without obstacles.

“This empowerment programme is aimed at boosting economic activities, improving livelihoods, and enhancing the well-being of our people. It is also a token of my appreciation for your unwavering support during the elections,” he stated.

Beyond scholarships, the lawmaker’s intervention included the donation of computers and school bags to various schools across Anambra East and West Local Government Areas. This, according to Macpee, will improve digital literacy, enhance classroom learning, and prepare students for a technologically driven future.

The Deputy Chairman of Anambra State Post Primary School Board, Prof. Nkiru Sam Emmanuel, lauded the initiative, describing it as a game-changer for education in the region. She assured that the donated computers would be put to good use to facilitate smart learning in schools, urging students to maximize the opportunity.

Expected Impacts

This empowerment initiative is expected to have far-reaching effects on both the beneficiaries and the entire constituency:

Educational Advancement: The scholarships and computers will enhance access to quality education, ensuring that bright but underprivileged students do not drop out due to financial constraints.

Digital Transformation: The provision of computers will boost digital literacy and encourage the adoption of modern teaching techniques in schools, preparing students for the global digital economy.

Economic Relief for Families: Many parents in the constituency will experience financial relief as the burden of WAEC fees and educational materials has been lifted off their shoulders.

Long-Term Development: By investing in education today, Hon. Aniekwe is laying a solid foundation for a more educated, self-reliant, and economically productive constituency in the future.

As the beneficiaries expressed their joy and gratitude, Hon. Aniekwe reassured them of his continued commitment to education, healthcare, and empowerment initiatives, pledging to sustain the programme and extend its reach in the second phase.

With this initiative, Hon. Peter Aniekwe (Macpee) has once again demonstrated that education is not just a priority but a necessity for progress, making a bold statement on the power of people-centered representation in governance.
