The Member Representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Udeogalanya Aniekwe (Macpee), has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a fair and effective tax system.
Rep. Peter Aniekwe’s position on Tax Reforms was made known by his Media Office as he engaged his colleagues in the ongoing House of Representatives Committee on Finance Retreat on the Tax Reform Bill.
As a key member of the committee, Hon. Aniekwe engaged in in-depth discussions on the bill, carefully analyzing submissions and recommendations from Nigerians to ensure the proposed tax reforms address public concerns and alleviate fears.
Speaking on the essence of the retreat, he emphasized that while the intent behind the four tax reform bills is commendable, some provisions require further scrutiny.
“We have all agreed that the spirit behind the four bills is good. But we have issues with some of the letters of the bills. That is why we have this retreat, to address those concerns. We support the spirit and want to assure Nigerians that we will do what is expected of us as true representatives of the people,” he stated.
The retreat is expected to yield a refined legislative framework that will enhance tax administration, boost revenue generation, and ensure economic policies that do not overburden Nigerian citizens.
