Former Anambra State governorship aspirant, Chief Dr. Ike Oligbo (popularly known as Ike Umuoji), has openly endorsed Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for a second term, stating that the governor’s sterling achievements in office make him the clear and deserving choice for re-election in 2025.
Oligbo made the declaration during a Town Hall meeting hosted in Edmonton, North London, where Governor Soludo presented his three-year performance report to Ndi Anambra in the diaspora. The event, which drew a large turnout of Anambra indigenes, provided an interactive platform where the governor answered numerous questions and addressed concerns raised by attendees.
Speaking to the press at the event, Chief Oligbo explained his decision not to recontest for the governorship, citing Soludo’s exceptional track record. “To run against a man who has performed so well for Anambra would be a foolhardy venture,” he said. “Soludo’s achievements have endeared him to Ndi Anambra, and he deserves to return unopposed.”
The well-organized gathering was co-hosted by Oligbo, whose company also handled logistics and security arrangements for the occasion. Governor Soludo, who attended the event alongside his wife, Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, and Chief of Staff Hon. Ernest Ezeajughi, was warmly received upon arrival by Chief Oligbo and his colleagues.
Throughout the meeting, Oligbo was seen engaging closely with the governor, participating in discussions on furthering the development of Anambra State. Both leaders were later seen departing the venue together under heavy security escort.
The Edmonton event was hailed as a major success and a significant moment of unity among Anambra citizens in the diaspora, many of whom expressed renewed confidence in Governor Soludo’s leadership and the future of the state.
