In a bold declaration of solidarity at Nnewi North Council area on Tuesday, the Women Coordinators for Barr. Don Amamgbo have expressed total commitment to his candidacy ahead of the forthcoming Anambra South senatorial primaries and by-election.

Leading the charge, Mrs. Amaka Ofojebe, head of the Ward and LGA Women Coordinators, emphasized the need for visible identification, vigorous canvassing, and organizational discipline within support groups.

“I’m totally committed to this project,” Ofojebe stated. “Anyone with me must visibly identify with our cause and take responsibility. We must canvas vigorously for Barr. Donald Amamgbo. I also suggest that all support groups must be properly identified and coordinated to ensure effectiveness.”

The event, which served as a strategic gathering for grassroots mobilization, drew major figures from the Labour Party (LP), including its gubernatorial candidate Chief George Muoghalu, LP State Secretary Barr. CJ Okoli Akirika, and the 2023 House of Assembly candidate for Oyi Constituency, Hon. OCN Okafor.

Also present were prominent LP leaders such as Mrs. Amaka Oguebuani (Women Leader), Mr. Emeka Okeke (LP Nnewi South LGA Chairman), Mr. Nonso Amamchukwu (State Deputy Chairman), Mrs. Ajaegbuo Ogechi (LG Secretary), and Mr. Levi Mmadu (Ekwusigo LGA Chairman), as well as the LP State Woman Leader, Lady Amaka Ewuim.

In his remarks, the State Deputy Chairman of the party, Mr. Nonso Amamchukwu urged the ward coordinators to take ownership of the campaign. “The upcoming by-election must be approached with all seriousness. We need leaders like Don Amamgbo who have proven their worth in community development. I urge you all to mobilize the grassroots. Victory depends on you.”

LP State Secretary Barr. Okoli Akirika described Amamgbo as a man of integrity and a promising representative with the mindset to lead credibly. “Amamgbo is not just capable of winning the forthcoming election, but also equipped with the right mindset to provide credible leadership at the National Assembly”, he stated.

Echoing this, Ekwusigo LGA Chairman Mr. Levi Mmadu acknowledged the overwhelming attention on Amamgbo, noting that the people believe in his ability to replicate his achievements in Ihiala across the entire Anambra South.

LP Chairman Mr. Emeka Okeke affirmed his belief in Amamgbo’s capacity. “I travelled home because I heard Don Amamgbo was coming. A man of his caliber deserves our recognition and support,” he said.

Chief George Muoghalu, LP gubernatorial candidate, emphasized that the upcoming by-election must be taken seriously. “The Labour Party is made up of responsible citizens, committed to delivering good governance. We must prosecute this election with all seriousness and give our dear state the much desired transformation.”

In his address, Barr. Donald Amamgbo attributed his passion for service to the values instilled by his grandfather. “Though uneducated, my grandfather was driven by a deep sense of benevolence, always seeking to empower others. I have tried to continue that legacy in all I do.”

He cautioned against the practice of vote-buying, warning that it undermines democratic accountability. “We must reject the politics of ‘pay me to vote for you’. A candidate who buys your vote may feel he has settled you, thereby denying you the right to demand good governance.”

Amamgbo encouraged voters to prioritize the future of their children by electing fearless, people-oriented leaders who will stand up for their rights and provide genuine representation.

Rounding off the event, LP State Woman Leader Lady Amaka Ewuim praised Amamgbo’s compassion and leadership. “He has a large heart and has consistently shown that a worker deserves their wages. Let’s vote and guard our votes to ensure our voices are heard at the ballot.”

The event marked a turning point in grassroots preparations, with Labour Party leaders and coordinators reaffirming their commitment to ensuring Amamgbo’s victory in the upcoming election.
