The Anambra State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered a victim’s vehicle, following swift intervention by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad based in Enugu-Ukwu.
The incident occurred in the evening of Saturday, May 17, 2025, when a five-man kidnapping gang operating in a black Toyota Corolla double-crossed a victim at Amatu village, Agulu. The assailants abducted the victim along with his black Lexus 350 SUV.
However, following a prompt alert, police operatives launched a technology-driven manhunt that forced the criminals to abandon both the victim and the vehicle at Isuaniocha before fleeing the scene. The victim has since been debriefed and is reported to be in safe custody.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command is currently acting on credible information gathered from the victim and has intensified surveillance in the area. Efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal gang.
