“We are not just supporting a candidate, we are on the ballot!” ~ APC Women Leaders declare support for Senator Uche Ekwunife and Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu ahead of the Anambra Governorship Election.

The strategic women mobilization meeting began by 12. Noon on Sunday, at Senator Uche Ekwunife Event Center Awka, with an opening prayer and the traditional breaking of kolanut by Rev. Fr. Mmaduewesi.
Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, hosted a landmark gathering of 1,490 women leaders across the 21 local government areas of the state, as part of her ongoing grassroots mobilization ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
Renowned for her broad political network and influential grassroots connections, Senator Ekwunife is capitalizing on her rich political experience to rally key female stakeholders behind the APC’s vision for transformational governance. The event drew women from diverse political blocs, socio-cultural groups, and support organizations committed to delivering victory for the Ukachukwu/Ekwunife ticket.
In her address, Senator Ekwunife officially informed the women that she has been selected as the running mate to APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, describing him as a God-fearing and visionary leader with the capacity to transform Anambra State.
“I urge you to see this election as your project. I am only representing your voices. Dr. Ukachukwu is the best thing that will happen to Anambra in the coming months,” she emphasized.
Highlighting her record of service, Ekwunife recounted her housing initiative in the Senate where she built 38 houses, 37 of which were allocated to women, and the remaining one for an orphan, Mr Uche who used to be in charge of her public address system. “On behalf of our dependable Governorship Candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, I assure you that under the APC administration, Anambra women will no longer be marginalized.”
She further pledged the APC’s commitment to upholding and even surpassing the 35% affirmative action policy for women inclusion, promising strategic appointments and empowerment programs.
Senator Ekwunife expressed her profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strides in improving governance through increased federal allocations and policy reforms, while commending First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu and the Vice President’s wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, for their support in grassroots mobilization and women development.
Former Minister for Women Affairs and PDP BoT member, Chief Mrs. Josephine Anenih, described Ekwunife as “a woman of grace and substance, who has carved a niche for herself in politics and academic excellence.” She praised Ekwunife’s generosity, leadership, and unshakable commitment to uplifting women and youth across board.
“This endorsement is well-deserved,” Anenih said. “If you support her, you are supporting your families and communities. She is integrity personified.”
In her remarks, the Anambra State APC Women Leader, Chief Mrs. Maria Ejielo, applauded Ekwunife’s emergence as a pivotal opportunity to correct the long-standing marginalization of women in governance. She urged all women present to adopt the election as their personal mission.
An accomplished Accountant, retired banker, former Director British Chamber of Commerce, and Senator Uche Ekwunife’s Director of Projects Hon Mrs Ify Chinwuko in her presentation listed a handful of projects done by Senator Uche Ekwunife across Anambra communities, noting that the only thing that gives the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate joy is to put smiles on people’s faces.
She encouraged the women to key into the mass movement fully, with a view to actualizing their dreams of a better Anambra State, made up of very happy families with improved livelihood, prosperity and modern facilities that can only come from a team featuring the Madam Project of our time, the Most Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife Ph.D.
Former MD of ASWAMA and Convener of I-WIN, Hon. Mrs. Njideka Oraedum, called on women to campaign vigorously for the ticket, stating, “We are on the ballot this time. And we must win!”
Chief Sir Azuka Okwuosa, APC chieftain and Anambra South Senatorial bye-election aspirant, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and commended the strategic insight shared during the meeting. He emphasized the importance of entrusting political responsibilities to competent and compassionate women like Ekwunife.
“Women know how to manage and distribute resources with fairness. Ekwunife embodies that spirit of justice and inclusiveness,” he stated.
