The political tempo in Anambra State continues to rise as former Governor Willie Obiano’s younger brother, Hon. Evaristus Obiano, openly criticized the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu.

Speaking during the APC campaign rally held in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area, Evaristus Obiano described Ukachukwu as a “perfect replacement” for the incumbent governor, expressing regret over what he termed “a mistake” in electing Soludo in the first place.

“We made a mistake by electing the incumbent. Ukachukwu is an opportunity to correct that impression,” Obiano said, lamenting the lack of government presence in Aguleri and its environs, despite the community’s pivotal role in the emergence of Soludo.

Also speaking, Youth Ambassador Innocent Nduanya announced that the five political wards in Aguleri have unanimously declared their full support for Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife, insisting that Aguleri should now be regarded as the headquarters of the APC due to the massive grassroots mobilization for the party.

Former President-General, SA Political, SA Security, Hon. Osita Patrick Nwoye, in his remarks, expressed surprise over Governor Soludo’s show of ingratitude towards the people of Aguleri.

“He is the most wicked politician we have ever elected into office, amidst criticisms and stern warnings. We warned our brother Obiano about that man, but he didn’t listen. Now he has shown everyone how ungrateful and unreliable a man can be,” he lamented.

The APC State Chairman, Hon. Basil Ejidike, reaffirmed the party’s strong backing from the federal level, stating: “When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said, ‘Get me Anambra, you have my full support,’ it laid to rest any doubts about who he supports. He is with us all the way.”

In her remarks, Senator Uche Ekwunife said that Obiano’s comparison between the incumbent and the APC candidate shows that replacement is the only viable option left. She urged the people of Aguleri to heed the call and vote massively for Ukachukwu.

Ekwunife also questioned Soludo’s loyalty to President Tinubu, noting his reluctance to endorse the President during his first term. “You don’t leave your own wares in the market to sell another person’s product. Mr. President will never abandon his party candidate for an outsider,” she emphasized.

Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, while addressing the crowd, commended former Governor Willie Obiano as a good man and expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming support from the people of Aguleri, who, according to him, once supported Soludo but are now backing him in full.

Ukachukwu also spoke about the insecurity challenges plaguing the state, disclosing that he owns 12 factories in Anambra, all of which are now under lock due to the abduction of six of his workers by kidnappers. He pledged to prioritize the security of lives and property if elected governor.

“Many lives have been lost under Soludo’s administration, and the situation is getting worse. I was mocked for giving out my personal money, but I ask, who is better — the one who shares his own money or the one looting and sharing public funds?” he asked.

The APC governorship hopeful vowed to tackle insecurity head-on and restore safety to the state so that residents can live and do business in peace.

The Aguleri rally marks another milestone in the ongoing campaign as the APC continues to galvanize support across the state ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.
