….As APC rally in Awka South witnesses strong endorsements for Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the November 2025 election in Anambra State, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has pledged to establish a Ministry of Capital Territory, which will be headed by an indigene of Awka, the state capital. He made this declaration during a high-energy APC rally held in Nibo Civic Center, Awka South Local Government Area.
Ukachukwu, who was accompanied by his running mate, Senator Dr. Uche Ekwunife, said the creation of the ministry would prioritize the development and transformation of Awka as the capital city. He lamented the deteriorating state of security in the state, recalling that six out of 40 foreign expatriates working in his factories were kidnapped. He said the insecurity forced him to shut down operations in his 12 factories across Anambra.
“I suffered to make money and declared war against poverty when I succeeded. Now, I want to secure the state so that I can reopen my factories, and others who were equally compelled to close down can reopen theirs too. This is how to strengthen the economy and promote peaceful coexistence,” Ukachukwu stated.
Addressing the crowd, APC stalwart Hon. Phanzark described Ukachukwu and Ekwunife as the best leadership combination to salvage Anambra. “These are the next governor and deputy governor of Anambra State. They have come to rescue our economy from the rot worsened by the Soludo administration, which taxes even petty traders like pure water vendors,” he said.
Princess Caroline Ajuora, the first female President of the South-East Chamber of Commerce and Anambra State Chamber of Commerce, echoed similar sentiments. She praised the selection of Senator Uche Ekwunife as deputy governorship candidate, assuring women traders that relief was on the way.
“When Iwene Tansi University needed 200 students to meet accreditation requirements, Dr. Ukachukwu paid the required fees for exactly 200 students to make it work. He also gave scholarships to 2,000 students. This is a man who invests in people,” she noted. Ajuora also called for institutional alliance and mass mobilization, noting that her group, Ikukuoma Solidarity, has been actively supporting the campaign.
Also speaking, community leader Ozor Amobi Nwokafor of Awka South described the rally as the unveiling of a “great masquerade” by the APC, adding that the local government would throw its weight fully behind the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife team. He stressed the importance of mobilization at the ward and polling unit levels.
The APC State Chairman, Hon. Basil Ejidike, reaffirmed his commitment to working with party executives, support groups, and stakeholders to deliver victory for the party. He urged Awka South residents to align with the APC to ensure Anambra is brought into political alignment with the federal government, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive.
Senator Ekwunife, while addressing the crowd, expressed confidence in the campaign’s momentum and promised to revisit Awka South with detailed reports of her achievements in the area.
The event climaxed with the presentation of a magnificent portrait to Senator Ekwunife by Ndi Anambra Home & Abroad, a group powered by Hungry & Angry, in recognition of her service and leadership.
