The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Dr. Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has reiterated his commitment to balancing infrastructure development with human capital upliftment if elected governor in the 2025 election. He stated this during the APC campaign visit to Ekwusigo Local Government Area, held in Ozubulu.
Dr. Ukachukwu emphasized that it is wrong to ignore “stomach infrastructure” in governance, stressing that government resources belong to the people and must be used to improve their daily lives. “The time has come for a government that not only builds roads but also restores hope and livelihoods,” he said.
The candidate inaugurated the Ekwusigo Ward Campaign Council, charging them to work with courage and integrity, assuring them of adequate support to win at the grassroots level. He also accused the current governor of Anambra State of using public funds to prosecute his re-election bid, while he (Ukachukwu) is committing his personal resources to rescue the state from decline.
In her remarks, Dr. Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), the APC deputy governorship candidate, quoted Proverbs 29:2 from the Bible: “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” She said Anambra is at a crossroads and must choose visionary and righteous leadership like the one led by Dr Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu to avert further hardship and fully facilitate and implement the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in the state.
APC State Chairman, Hon. Basil Ejidike, urged the people to work toward APC’s victory, noting that only APC will appear on the ballot paper. “Victory means access to massive dividends of democracy,” he added.
Highlighting the growing momentum for APC, Hon. Tony Offor, Ekwusigo LGA Chairman of the APC, welcomed the campaign council and wished them success. Hon. Humphrey Nsofor declared that Ekwusigo would deliver 95 percent of votes to the APC, describing the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket as the best choice for Anambra.
Former APGA chieftain and ex-MD of Anambra Signage Agency (ANSA), Chief Jude Emecheta, who recently joined APC, declared that “APGA is dead in Anambra.” He said APGA has been sold out and that progressive minds have no choice but to align with the APC. “We’re here to ensure Ikukuoma and Iyom succeed,” he stated, praising their vision for modern power generation and security.
Also speaking, former Old Nnewi LGA Chairman, Chief Azuka Okwuosa, accused the current administration of chasing away traders to Asaba, Delta State, through intimidation by political thugs known as “Ndi Akaodo.” He called for total commitment to changing the current narrative.
Chief Martins Udedike, representing SOFIC, presented a ram to Prince Ukachukwu in a symbolic show of support. Mrs Ify Offor from Oraifite called on women in Ekwusigo to rally behind the APC candidates to ensure responsive governance.
Other notable personalities at the rally included the incoming First Lady of Anambra State and beauty Queen Mitchell Ukachukwu, former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Rita Mmaduagwu, Chief Dozie Ikedife Jnr, Dame Princess Orizu, Hon. Arinze Awogu, and Chief Fab Ozigbo.
The campaign stop in Ekwusigo marks another strategic step in the APC’s familiarization tour across Anambra State ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 governorship election.
