The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has unveiled a comprehensive agricultural empowerment plan aimed at boosting food production and supporting local farmers across the state.

Speaking during an interactive meeting in Orumba South Local Government Area, Ukachukwu announced a farmers grant scheme that would offer direct support to genuine farmers, especially those affected by insecurity.

The interactive session, which drew massive attendance from APC faithful and stakeholders, began with a warm welcome by the Orumba South APC Chairman, Hon. Emeka Ide, who set the tone for deliberations. The APC executive in the LGA, led by Ide, also made symbolic presentations to the party’s candidates, including a ram, as a sign of solidarity.

Sir Onyi Uzochukwu (Avenger) assured the APC team of total support from Orumba South, declaring that the area would remain steadfast in delivering victory. Members of the SOFIG Family and Ikemba Front Orumba South also pledged their loyalty, with the both groups presenting one ram each to the APC governorship candidate.

The APC State Chairman, Hon. Basil Ejidike, used the occasion to reiterate the symbolism of the party’s emblem, the broom, reminding party members and voters to identify with the APC on the ballot.

The event also featured passionate appeals from prominent leaders. Former Speaker Hon. Mike Ugwa expressed confidence in Ukachukwu’s chances, stressing that Orumba South has never produced a senator or governor and that the time for such historic progress is now.

Similarly, Chief Bounty Onuigbo (Ikenga Akpu) reminded constituents that Ukachukwu, popularly known as Ikukuoma, has consistently supported others to electoral victory and deserves the people’s backing. According to the community leader, the days of marginalization is over considering the great expectations of Ikukuoma, Iyom combination, which he described as the best formula to tackle the challenges facing the state.

Women Leaders and other grassroots supporters, especially Mrs Akudiya Obymezi who equally made a wonderful presentation to the APC candidate also reaffirmed dedication to the APC project.

Speaking at the event, Senator Uche Ekwunife lauded Ukachukwu’s generosity and Christian values, noting that leadership should be about service, accessibility, and compassion. She said:

“A leader who thinks only of himself will certainly not care about others when given authority. What we need is someone who understands the pains of the common man, someone who can drive vision, innovation, and human capital development, and that person is no other than Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu.”

In his address, Ukachukwu began by leading a moment of silence and prayer for the victims of a recent violent incident in Orumba LGA. He promised to end insecurity within 90 days of assuming office, assuring citizens that safety and peace will return to every part of Anambra.

“My administration will provide grants to genuine farmers because they are the ones who feed society. As we confront insecurity, we will also empower our farmers to boost food production and secure economic stability for our people”, he noted.

The rally solidified support for Ukachukwu’s candidacy in Orumba South, as the APC intensifies its grassroots engagements ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
