Ekwunife Condemns Murder of APC Nri Ward 2 Chairman, Rev’d Mark Okonkwo

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has condemned the brutal killing of Rev’d Mark Okonkwo, popularly known as Ogazi by unknown assailants. Rev Mark Okonkwo who was until his death the Chief Security Officer of Nri community and Chairman of APC Nri Ward 2. was a respected community leader, grassroots mobilizer, and devout servant of God.

Speaking during a condolence visit to the bereaved family in Nri, Anaocha LGA, Ekwunife assured them of support, stressing that they are not alone in this moment of grief. She described the killing as barbaric and an affront to humanity that should never be tolerated. She further lamented that the insecurity in Anambra State has worsened to the point where movement between communities now poses risks in a state once known for peace and safety.

Ekwunife called on the Anambra State Government and security agencies to launch a thorough investigation and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. She also expressed concern about the proliferation of firearms and the unchecked activities of unregulated vigilante groups, urging government to take firm steps to curb the spread of light weapons by non state actors and restore public confidence in the state’s security framework.

While praying for the peaceful repose of Rev’d Okonkwo, Senator Ekwunife stated that it is only a secured environment that can trigger economic stability and prosperous Anambra. She added that his death must not be in vain, stressing that the tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for stronger and purposeful leadership that guarantees safety, peace, and the future of Ndi Anambra.

Senator Ekwunife was accompanied to the visit by the APC State Chairman, her entourage and other members of the party.
