Evangelist Prince Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu, popularly known as Ikukuoma Ndigbo, has been described as a visionary leader and statesman whose achievements have placed him among Igbo sons that made history beyond the boundaries of their homeland.
Born on September 3, 1967, in Osumenyi, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Ukachukwu’s journey from Omaigwe Primary School Osumenyi, DMGS Onitsha, and later the University of Calabar, to the national political stage has been marked by courage and groundbreaking accomplishments.
In 1999, at the dawn of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, Ukachukwu broke a long-standing barrier by becoming the first Igbo man elected to represent the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in the House of Representatives. His election was hailed as a major political breakthrough, demonstrating that leadership is not limited by tribe or language but by vision and capacity.
During his tenure in the Green Chamber between 1999 and 2003, Ukachukwu served as Chairman of the House Committees on FCT and later Oil & Gas. He was instrumental in securing a large percentage of Wuse Market shops for Igbo traders and played a key role in the construction of Dei-Dei International Market, a landmark project that continues to drive trade and commerce in Abuja.
Beyond politics, Ukachukwu is a major investor in education and real estate development. He founded the European University of Nigeria and the British Nigeria Academy International School, institutions that continue to nurture future leaders. His business empire spans companies such as Prince & Princess Properties, Good Homes Development Company Ltd, and Sharon Villa Estate Ltd, all of which have created jobs, transformed communities, and contributed significantly to the national economy.
In recognition of his contributions to national growth and employment creation, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2008 conferred on him the National Honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
As Ukachukwu steps into the 2025 Anambra governorship race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his campaign message centers on livelihood, welfare, security, healthcare, economic growth, and peaceful coexistence.
Observers note that unlike many politicians who focus on rhetoric, Ukachukwu’s record speaks through tangible results; markets for traders, schools for children, estates for families, and businesses that empower the economy.
Supporters say he represents a new wave of leadership for Anambra, positioning him as “a proven achiever who has broken records many professors and politicians could not achieve in their lifetime.”
