The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, MFR, has refuted claims that he owes anyone the sum of ₦1 billion, describing the allegation as politically motivated and baseless.
Ukachukwu, who spoke during the inauguration of the Anambra State APC Campaign Council, maintained that as a billionaire with extensive investments, it was illogical to suggest he would be indebted over what he termed a “paltry” sum.
“You can’t say I owe anybody one billion when I’m worth billions. They have been publishing claims of payment to a company. I challenge anyone to go and verify, if you see my name as a director in that company, hold me responsible,” Ukachukwu said.
The APC flag bearer, popularly known as Ikukuoma, noted that such attacks were a distraction from his mission to rescue Anambra State from insecurity, economic stagnation, and academic decline. He pointed to the defection of four sitting members of the State House of Assembly to APC as “a sign of God’s endorsement” of his joint ticket with Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON.
Unveiling key areas of his manifesto, Ukachukwu pledged to tackle insecurity and revive moribund businesses across the state. He promised the installation of an independent power plant to boost industrial growth, the implementation of an ultramodern water scheme for major towns, and comprehensive reforms in healthcare delivery.
“Our hospitals today are like glorified mortuaries. We are going to restore the healthcare system and make it useful for Ndi Anambra. The internally generated revenue and the increased federal allocation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are more than enough to fix the decay in critical sectors,” Ukachukwu assured.
He also highlighted his proposed “agric chain revolution,” which would provide high-yield farm inputs, fertilizers, and access to financing, insisting that practical action, not rhetoric, was needed to put food on the table.
Ukachukwu described his candidacy as a divine mandate, declaring that his joint ticket with Senator Ekwunife was God’s plan for the emancipation of Ndi Anambra.
