The first batch of 200 Anambra youths have successfully completed their training under the Technology Incubation and Youth Empowerment Programme organized by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and Zedhub Projects Limited.
The two-week intensive training, held from 13th to 27th October 2025 (excluding weekends) at the Sen. Uche Ekwunife Centre, Awka, marked the beginning of a 10-batch empowerment initiative aimed at equipping young people with practical technology-based skills for self-reliance and entrepreneurship. The entire programme will continue till February 2026, targeting a total of 2,000 beneficiaries across Anambra State.
Speaking during the closing session of the first phase, the Facilitator and Anambra APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, expressed deep satisfaction with the participants’ commitment and drive throughout the training period.
Ekwunife emphasized that technology remains a catalyst for innovation, productivity, and sustainable economic development, urging the youths to see themselves as problem-solvers and future employers of labour.
“This initiative is not just about training but about transforming lives. What we are doing here is helping our youths move from job seekers to job creators,” Ekwunife stated. “Technology is the future, and I’m proud to see these young people embrace innovation with such passion. The skills and tools you’ve received today should serve as a springboard for your dreams.”
As part of the empowerment package, each participant received a brand new HP laptop and other incentives to enable them excel in the lessons learnt during the training and apply them in real-world settings.
Ekwunife commended the National Board for Technology Incubation and Zedhub Projects Limited for their collaborative effort in promoting technology-driven entrepreneurship, describing the project as a timely intervention in tackling youth unemployment.
She further noted that her sustainable outreach to both the old and young across Anambra communities after her legislative service is a clear indication that a true leader does not need to hold public office to continue making meaningful impact. According to her, “What defines true leadership is not the position one occupies but the commitment to serve humanity with consistency and sincerity of purpose.”
Participants at the event expressed profound appreciation to the organizers and Senator Ekwunife for facilitating such a transformative initiative. They described the training as an eye-opener that has broadened their understanding of digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and modern business applications.
One of the trainees, Miss Chidiebere Igboka, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Senator Uche Ekwunife for offering what she described as a life-changing opportunity.
“Before now, I didn’t believe I could use technology to build a profitable business,” she said. “This training has given me confidence and direction. I’m especially grateful to Senator Ekwunife for her generosity and vision in empowering young people like us. The laptop support is a huge step toward putting everything we’ve learnt into practice.”
Similarly, Mr. Abuchi Okoye, another participant, commended Senator Ekwunife for her unwavering commitment to youth development and empowerment.
“This programme was well-organized and impactful. The trainers were patient and practical, and the resources we received will help us continue learning beyond the classroom. I deeply appreciate Senator Ekwunife for her dedication to uplifting Anambra youths. This opportunity has truly changed our lives.”
The programme continues with nine more batches scheduled between November 2025 and February 2026, ensuring that hundreds more Anambra youths are empowered with 21st-century technological and entrepreneurial skills for a sustainable future.
