The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has strongly condemned the brutal mob attack on two women, one of whom was reportedly pregnant, over allegations of theft.

In a statement issued on Monday 3rd November, 2025, Ekwunife expressed deep outrage and heartbreak over a viral video circulating on social media, showing the victims being stripped, beaten, and paraded naked by a mob.

Describing the act as “barbaric, dehumanizing, and an affront to womanhood and the rule of law,” the Senator said the incident reflects a disturbing disregard for human rights and civility.

“This act of jungle justice is a gross violation of human dignity and a direct assault on the sanctity of womanhood and motherhood. No grievance can ever justify such cruelty. The sight of a pregnant woman subjected to such brutality is gut-wrenching and constitutes an unpardonable crime against humanity,” Ekwunife stated.

She urged the Inspector General of Police to immediately investigate the incident and bring all perpetrators to justice, stressing that mob action has no place in a democratic society.

Ekwunife further appealed to the authorities to provide the victims with medical care, psychological support, and legal assistance to restore their dignity and ensure their safety.

The former senator called on Nigerians to reject mob justice and uphold due process in addressing grievances, emphasizing that “justice must be served in courtrooms, not on the streets.”
