Ekwunife Joins Oba Kingdom in Celebrating Coronation and Maiden Ofala of HRM Igwe Emelobe

Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, on Friday, January 9, 2026, attended the Coronation and Maiden Ofala Festival of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Engr. Augustine C. Emelobe, KSC, GCON, the Eze-Okpoko II of Oba.

The historic event, which marked the formal ascension and first Ofala celebration of the revered monarch, took place at the Merchants of Light School, Oba, and attracted dignitaries, traditional rulers, community leaders, and sons and daughters of Oba from within and outside the state.

Senator Ekwunife congratulated His Royal Majesty, Igwe Engr. Augustine C. Emelobe, describing his emergence as a well-deserved honour and a new chapter of unity, progress, and purposeful leadership for the Oba community. She also extended warm felicitations to the Igwe-in-Council, the Oba Patriotic Union, and the entire people of Oba on the successful coronation and maiden Ofala celebration.

The Senator further commended key personalities whose efforts contributed to the success of the event, including Sir Chief Ekene Ebuzeme (Ikenga-Ebubedike Oba), Chairman of the Oba Central Planning Committee; Engr. Uzor Ejiofor (Ezeugonna), President General of the Oba Patriotic Union; and Chief Boniface Onyeka (Ichie Okom II), Onowu Oba.

She prayed for a peaceful, prosperous, and impactful reign for His Majesty, noting that strong traditional institutions remain vital to preserving Igbo culture, promoting peace, and fostering grassroots development.
