…Disowns Any February 2 Sit-at-Home Directive

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has officially banned the use of the pseudonym “Emma Powerful” and directed that all its authorised press statements must henceforth be issued exclusively on the organisation’s official letterheaded paper.
The decision was announced on Saturday in a statement signed by Mazi Chukwukadibia Edoziem, Head of the Directorate of State (DOS) of IPOB.
According to the DOS, the alias “Emma Powerful,” previously used operationally by IPOB’s Publicity Secretary, has been abused, misused, and compromised, creating serious risks for the movement and the Biafran self-determination struggle.
The leadership said the clarification became necessary as part of IPOB’s resolve to align its operations with globally accepted institutional best practices, stressing that any communication issued in the name of IPOB carries enormous responsibility and consequences for its leadership and supporters.
The DOS explained that continued use of the pseudonym now poses clear and present dangers, noting that some individuals and groups have allegedly deployed it to spread misinformation and undermine the relative peace and security currently enjoyed in parts of Biafraland.
The Directorate of State resolved that:
All official IPOB press releases must be issued only on IPOB’s official letterhead.
The organisation will no longer issue statements under the pseudonym “Emma Powerful.”
Any statement released under that name going forward does not originate from IPOB leadership and does not represent the position of the Directorate of State.
In a further clarification, IPOB categorically denied authorising any individual or group to issue a lockdown or sit-at-home order across Biafraland on Monday, February 2, 2026, distancing the organisation from any such directive circulating in the public space.
The DOS urged the public, supporters, and media practitioners to disregard any statement not issued on IPOB’s official letterhead, warning that misinformation remains a major threat to peace and the integrity of the movement.
