The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) has announced a partial system collapse that triggered widespread power outages across the South-East on Wednesday.
In a statement issued by the company, the incident was said to have occurred at about 11:54 a.m., disrupting electricity supply to customers served by its subsidiary distribution firms, including MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra, and EastLand.
EEDC said the cause of the partial system collapse is yet to be ascertained, adding that technical teams are on standby while awaiting restoration of power supply.
The company appealed to its customers for patience and understanding, apologising for the inconvenience caused and assuring that updates would be provided as efforts to restore electricity continue.
The notice was signed by Emeka Ezeh, Group Head, Corporate Communications, and dated February 19, 2026.
