The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has notified the public of a general system collapse that occurred at 6:48 PM today, 14th October 2024, leading to widespread power outages across its network. According to an official statement signed by Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, the collapse has affected electricity supply in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.

The outage has been traced to a system failure at all EEDC interface Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations, which has temporarily halted power distribution in the affected areas. EEDC is currently on standby, awaiting further updates from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo regarding the cause of the collapse and when restoration efforts will commence.
