The Nri community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State celebrated the commissioning of an ultramodern Primary Health Center and a solar-powered market, both built by Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), CON, on December 26, 2024. This significant event marked a milestone for the community, which recognized Ekwunife as the first woman to attract both state and federal government presence to Nri.

In her remarks, Senator Ekwunife emphasized that leadership should extend beyond mere public office portfolios. She underscored the importance of prioritizing the well-being of ordinary citizens and communities at all levels. Ekwunife urged residents to ensure the optimal use of the newly commissioned facilities, which she officially handed over to the President General of Nri Progress Union, Chief Romanus Okafor.

In response, Chief Okafor expressed profound gratitude for the newly commissioned facilities and other remarkable projects Ekwunife has undertaken for the Nri community. He reiterated their commitment to fully support her future political endeavors, citing her demonstrated dedication to the welfare of the Nri people.

“Your kind is rare. You have distinguished yourself both in and out of government, building a reputation for consistently keeping your word throughout the years. The sky is your limit,” he stated.

Okafor commended Ekwunife for the over 30-bed ultramodern Primary Health Centre, which is fully air-conditioned and well equipped with modern medical equipment. He expressed his satisfaction that residents would no longer travel to neighboring towns for medical treatment following the official commissioning of this essential facility.

Beneficiaries and stakeholders at the event expressed their appreciation for the senator’s unwavering and sustained efforts towards community development and human capital upliftment in Nri. They expressed confidence in the ability of Senator Uche Ekwunife to break more barriers in public service, while declaring their readiness to mobilize massive support for her future endeavours and political aspirations anytime she desires.

The highlight of the event was a ceremonial presentation of a cow to Senator Ekwunife by the President General of Nri, symbolizing the community’s gratitude for her numerous interventions and dedication to the development of the town.
