
In another show of unprecedented political move ahead of the 2027 Imo standalone governorship election, the leadership of The Mazi (Gburugburu) Organization (TMO) at a press conference in Owerri Imo State welcomed prominent political chieftains in the state from various political parties, particularly of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Welcoming the detectors into the family, the Director General, Chief Henry Onwukwe (Apiti) alongside other prominent members of the team expressed the profound gratitude of the team to the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for their unparalleled commitment to a prosperous nation and Imo State in particular.
In a press statement on behalf of the organization, Hon. Cajetan Duke, JP, the Spokesperson and Head of Media & Publicity described the event as a great milestone in the state. “Today marks another significant milestone in the journey of The Mazi (Gburugburu) Organization as we officially welcome distinguished political figures to our fold. This is not just about numbers; it’s about shared vision and purpose for a greater Imo State,” said Duke.
Among the notable personalities welcomed into the organization were Okenze Engr. Paul Opara, immediate past APC Zonal Chairman of the Owerri Zone, Hon. Udo Agoha, former Commissioner for Agriculture and State Coordinator of Big Tent, Imo State, and Hon. Titus Anyanwu. Other prominent figures included Okenze Henry Unegbu, Hon. Chinenye Ezurike, and Princess Julieth Anyanwu, among others.
Their decision to join The Mazi (Gburugburu) Organization was hailed as a sign of the growing appeal of the organization across political party lines. With these additions, TMO is poised for greater influence in Imo State, leveraging the experience and leadership of these seasoned politicians.
Duke highlighted that this development reflects the organization’s commitment to an uncommon social mobilization and grassroots engagement with the people of Imo. “The time has come for a new breed of leaders who prioritize the welfare and development of our state. With these new members, we are confident that TMO is on the right path to mobilizing the people to create the Imo of their dreams,” he said.
TMO’s principles of inclusivity, transparency, and accountability were reiterated, with a commitment to ensuring that every citizen of Imo has a voice in the decision-making process. The organization emphasized that it is open to all, irrespective of political affiliation, as it strives for the greater good of the state.
