The Anambra Central People’s Forum, a registered Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization championing the revival and preservation of the dying Igbo Mother Tongue, has lauded the celebrated Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu, whom they described as an enigma in the medical profession, possessing candour and humility worthy of emulation. They added that he is a philanthropist of no mean value.
In a press release made available to journalists in Awka and signed by its Chairman, Hon. Achebe Chris, the group said:
“With a generous spirit and profound understanding of the power of Igbo language education, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu has graciously accepted to offer logistics support to the 4th Edition of the Year 2025 Prof. Pita Ejiofor Annual Igbo Essay Competition for Secondary School Students in Anambra State.”
The kind gesture was made when a delegation of the association paid the Vice-Chancellor a courtesy visit in his hallowed office recently.

From his roots in a strong religious household to his impressive career as an erudite Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a gynaecological endoscopic and fertility expert, Professor Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu has continually demonstrated excellence and resilience. Notably, he has made significant strides in education and professional medical practice. His profound accomplishments continue to inspire and uplift us all. He is a true son of the soil whose remarkable contributions are making a lasting impact on Igboland and beyond.
The prestigious socio-cultural organization applauded the Vice-Chancellor for his purposeful leadership and unflinching commitment to his vision of repositioning the university for greatness, as many have alluded to the fact that Professor Ikechebelu’s efforts have started yielding the desired results, which are apparent in the number of remarkable achievements his administration has recorded within a very short time in office.
“Since you assumed duty as the Vice-Chancellor of this great university, you have never hidden your penchant for high-level development and quality education; hence, the notable achievements recorded within your short period in office.
“It is a unique privilege which we shall remember forever, and it gives us strength and courage as we collectively dedicate ourselves to salvaging the Igbo language from extinction,” the association’s Chairman remarked, adding that Prof. Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu has never left anyone in doubt about his love for his culture and proud Igbo heritage.
On his part, one of the patrons of the Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, former Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and founder of the Otu Suwakwa Igbo (Nig.) Initiative, Prof. Pita Ejiofor, commended Professor Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu for his uncommon benevolence towards Igbo language education, which will help students gain a better sense of their cultural background for the sustained growth of the Igbo race in time and eternity. He maintained that the distinguished scholar of global ranking has brought many outstanding developments to the university within a very short period.
“It is our prayer that your tenure will continue to witness growth and development so that by the time you end your tenure, your name will be written in gold as the best-achieving Vice-Chancellor of the university,” Ejiofor stated.
