…Order 24-Hour Surveillance Across Rural Hotspots

The Anambra State Police Command and the Agunechemba Security Squad have firmly debunked a viral voice note alleging the invasion of over 6,400 Fulani gunmen into communities across the state. The agencies described the claim as false, baseless, and lacking any form of credible intelligence following preliminary investigations.
Despite dismissing the rumor, both security outfits emphasized that they are not taking chances. They have consequently placed officers, tactical units, and community vigilantes on 24-hour surveillance across vulnerable locations, especially in rural areas.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said:
“Preliminary assessments indicate that these voice notes and social media messages lack verified credibility. However, the Command has adopted proactive measures to ensure that no security concern—real or fabricated—is left unattended.”
He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has directed Area Commanders, DPOs, tactical units, and joint security teams to remain on heightened alert, intensify intelligence gathering, and sustain day-and-night patrols.
“Residents of Anambra State are urged to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear. Police operatives remain firm, vigilant, and fully committed to protecting lives and property across the state,” Ikenga assured.
Similarly, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, issued a parallel directive to Agunechemba operatives, stressing the need for vigilance and swift response to any suspicious movement.
In a statement issued by Mr. Nweke Nweke, Media and Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba, Emeakayi emphasized that the circulating voice notes lacked reliable verification and warned residents against spreading unconfirmed security alerts.
Emeakayi, a seasoned security strategist, further cautioned that security operatives will investigate the sources of these “baseless threats crafted from the comfort of people’s homes.”
He revealed that Agunechemba operatives have been mandated to work closely with federal security agencies to identify and neutralize crime hotspots.
“Ndi Anambra should feel safe to celebrate the Yuletide without fear. Those abroad are encouraged to return home for Christmas and New Year festivities, as robust and coordinated security measures are already in place,” he said.
Emeakayi commended Governor Soludo for enhancing community security architecture, noting that several areas once overrun by criminals have been reclaimed.
“It is now extremely dangerous for wrongdoers to attempt harassment or kidnapping in Anambra State. Our operatives are on ground, alert, and ready,” he maintained.
