By, Hon John Tochukwu Ogbodo .
When he assumed office in 2023, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah made it clear that his administration is focused on bringing back Enugu to national glory by first ensuring that it reclaims her place as the hub of the South East. Many did not understand this statement until a few months later, when he began to transform the state by revitalising all the moribund companies and abandoned projects, including Niger Gas, Presidential Hotel, International Conference Center, International Hospital, Enugu United Palm Products Limited (EUPPL), amongst others. All these are aside notable policies and programmes across all sectors.
Seeing that, the actualisation of all these may meet Waterloo, he decided to align the state back to the centre by joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a decision that has started favoring the state. When Governor Mbah joined APC, he was quickly made the Chairman of NEC Committee on Overhaul of Security Training Institutions, where he toured all the military and para-military training centres with an aim of finding out their issues and ensuring that they are revitalized. As soon as that was over, the resignation of the former Minister of Science and Technology happened and he ensured that Dr. Kingsley Udeh was used to replace him, unlike the previous times when outsiders are often used.
Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s move to APC is a move designed to favour the state after over 10 years of being disconnected from the Centre. Enugu is now included at the forefront of national social intervention programmes, with Governor Mbah made the coordinator. This implies that more than 250,000 people will benefit from such programs from Enugu, especially those in MSMEs.
It is very urgent and necessary that lovers of goodwill join this Enugu Development move by Governor Mbah by joining the APC. APC is just a vehicle and for us to maintain our position as a state at the heart of the Federal Government, we must make good use of the opportunity presented by the party’s ongoing membership registration and ensure that the target of 2 million members is achieved.
Joining APC is not just about politics; it is about securing Enugu’s future. For too long, the state has been left behind in terms of federal attention and funding. Projects have been delayed, grants have been missed, and opportunities for development ignored. Statistics show that states aligned with the ruling party receive at least 40 percent more federal allocations, social programmes, and infrastructure projects compared to those in the opposition. By being part of APC, Enugu is no longer on the sidelines. We now have access to key federal interventions, including social grants, conditional cash transfers, youth empowerment schemes, agricultural support programs, and federal job creation initiatives. These programs directly affect communities, households, and small businesses. Over 250,000 citizens in Enugu alone are set to benefit from these schemes this year, a number that can only increase if the state fully participates in the party’s initiatives.
We have been missing opportunities in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and business support because the state was not directly connected to the party in power. For instance, access to federal grants for small-scale entrepreneurs in the past was extremely limited, leaving thousands of business owners struggling without support. With APC, we are seeing funds being released for state projects, grants for micro and small enterprises, and programs to uplift vulnerable groups. This is why joining APC is not optional; it is essential. It is a practical step toward ensuring that Enugu is no longer neglected and that every community benefits from the resources and programs available at the national level.
It is also important to note that political alignment with the ruling party opens doors for investments. Companies and investors are more likely to locate projects in states where they can work closely with both the federal and state governments. This means more jobs, more development, and better quality of life for our people. For Enugu, being in APC allows us to attract national projects, secure large-scale investments, and ensure that state policies align with federal development goals. The more citizens that participate in the party, the stronger our voice becomes in decision-making and planning.
When ndị Enugu joins APC, they will become part of a collective effort to reclaim our state’s position as a hub of progress and opportunity. Membership is not just a political choice; it is a commitment to the growth of Enugu, to ensuring that our people have access to programs that can improve livelihoods, education, healthcare, and business opportunities. Every member strengthens the ability of Governor Mbah to negotiate for the state, implement programs effectively, and deliver tangible results to every local Government and wards.
For those who truly love Enugu, this is the time to act. Registering and participating actively in APC, will guarantee that the state remains connected to federal decision-making, which ensures that opportunities are not missed, and that the development journey initiated by Governor Mbah, continues uninterrupted.
It is our duty to support the vehicle that drives progress. The target of 2 million members is not just a number; it represents the collective strength of Enugu citizens working together to ensure our state never falls behind again. Every enrolment counts, every voice matters, and every effort contributes to the prosperity of Enugu.
Joining APC now ensures that we have a say in which programs are implemented, who benefits, and how resources are distributed. It is a way to protect the state’s interests, improve livelihoods, and position Enugu as the leading state in the South East in terms of development and national attention. This is the path toward a future where our state is recognized, our people prosper, and Enugu returns fully to the centre of national progress.
Ndị Enugu ,Let us seize this opportunity with commitment, discipline, and unity, so that Governor Mbah’s vision of a developed, connected, and prosperous Enugu becomes a reality.
Indeed ,our tomorrow is here !
