Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze Hails Enugu APC Congress as Best in State’s History

The Deputy Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, and also the Executive Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, says the successful conduct of APC ward, local government, and state congresses across the 260 political wards as well as the 17 Local Government Areas in the state is a sign that leaders and members of the party in the state are fully in support of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the leader of the party in the state.

Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday, in the aftermath of the congresses in the state, he stated that the exercise is the best to have been conducted by any political party since the history of the state.

He posited that he is not surprised, owing to the manner in which party stalwarts support the Governor, who is the leader of the party and who has also provided exceptional leadership for both the state and the party.

“The peaceful, transparent, and widely accepted congresses we witnessed across Enugu State clearly show that our party is united and focused. From the wards to the local governments and the state, members freely expressed their will without intimidation or confusion. This level of organisation and acceptance has further strengthened confidence in the leadership of the party. It also reflects the trust party members have in the Governor’s direction, vision, and capacity to lead the APC to greater electoral success in the state.”

Hon. Barr. Ukwueze also stated that the party is poised to have one of the best primaries in the next few weeks as it begins the process of targeting 99.9 per cent votes for Governor Mbah’s re-election come 2027, adding that the APC elected the best in character to lead the party at the grassroots level and the state.

He further praised the ward, local government, and state congress committees led by Dr. Lucky Ógbè, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, and Hon. Loveth Idisi for their professionalism, fairness, and commitment, noting that their conduct ensured credibility, peace, and acceptance of the outcomes across the state.

“The orderly manner in which the congresses were conducted has strengthened internal democracy within the party and boosted the confidence of members ahead of future electoral engagements. This is because the exercise has positioned the APC in Enugu State for greater unity, mobilisation, and strategic growth that will provide a successful outing at the poll.”

He also commended the outgoing APC Caretaker Committee led by Dr. Ben Nwoye, describing the committee as focused, inclusive, and committed to rebuilding and stabilising the party, while also asserting that the leadership of the caretaker committee laid the foundation that made the smooth conduct of the congresses possible.

Hon. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze went further to congratulate the new leadership of the APC in the state, led by Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, on their emergence at the state congress, which he also described as historic, peaceful, credible, and widely accepted, reflecting unity, renewed strength, and a collective determination to reposition the party for greater political victories and overwhelming electoral success in the forthcoming elections.
