A frontline politicianandbusinessleader, Barr. Donald Amamgbo, has called on Nigerian leaders and non-state actors to use the solemnity of Good Friday as a turning point to end violence across the country and promote peace, unity, and love among citizens.
In a Good Friday message made available to journalists, Amamgbo emphasized the spiritual significance of the day, noting that it symbolizes the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ for humanity and serves as a reminder of the enduring power of love, humility, and selflessness.
He urged political leaders, security agencies, and influential groups to observe the sacred occasion with deep reverence to Almighty God, stressing that such reflection should translate into concrete actions aimed at protecting lives and property, particularly worshippers of all faiths.
According to him, the persistent attacks on innocent citizens and places of worship remain a stain on the nation’s conscience, calling for an urgent and collective commitment to halt the cycle of violence.
“Nigeria must rise above division and embrace the values of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and shared humanity,” he stated, adding that the message of the cross clearly demonstrates that love is stronger than hate.
Amamgbo further encouraged Nigerians to use the period for sober reflection and renewed dedication to national unity, insisting that the country’s progress depends largely on the ability of its people to live together in harmony irrespective of religious, ethnic, or social differences.
