…Foils planned attack on Orumba communities

Three suspected hoodlums is said to have been neutralized during a raid on four scattered camps of the unknown gunmen yesterday in Ogbunka community of Orumba South local government areas of Anambra state.
Consequently the Police Command through the Joint Task Force on Security foiled a panned attack on two Communities in the area twenty four hours to the execution of the plot .
It was gathered that the four camps had over thirty suspected gunmen some of them were those that carried out attacks on two Police stations at Awgbu and Neni in Anaocha and Orumba North local government areas .
Though the number of deaths and casualties could not be confirmed by the security operatives it is being reported that bodies of three suspects were found boundaries of Ogbunka and Owerrezukala in Orumba South Council area towards the borders of Anambra and Abia states while scores escaped with bullet wounds.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Tochukwu Ikenga;
“In the hunt for gunmen who attacked two Police Stations at Awgbu in Orumba North and Neni in Anaocha LGA in the last two weeks, Police-Led Joint Security Force was ordered by the Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye to identify and destroy any camp being used by insurgents to launch attacks within the Command”
“We had previously destroyed two such camps, one in Ogbunka, Orumba South LGA and the other in Achalla, Awka North LGA”
“Yesterday, Friday, 29th March, 2024 The Joint Security Force raided the forests of Ogbunka in Orumba South LGA and found scattered camps of the insurgents. The cowardly criminals fled in the face of the onslaught”
“Six Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) already primed for attacks and two Walkie Talkies were recovered from the Camps”
“Also recovered were substantial food and groceries supply. All the camps were subsequently destroyed to deny the insurgents bases for launching attacks”
“The raid on the forests in search of insurgents and their camps is still ongoing with a view to eliminating the terrorists; rescuing abducted victims; recovering firearms and stolen vehicles in their possession”
Similarly the Anambra state Police Commissioner Mr Aderemi Adeoye has reassured the public of a crime free Easter celebration stating that officers and men have been deployed to major security flashpoints to avert any attempt by miscreants to threaten the lives of law abiding citizens.
Continuing in the release Ikenga said ;
“As usual the Command wishes to assure all law abiding citizens in Anambra state of a crime free celebration and officers and men of the Command have already been deployed to major security flashpoints across the state”
“Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police sends warm greetings to the people of Anambra at Easter.”
“He prays that the Peace of Christ which passeth all understanding reigns across the length and breadth of the State.
“He wishes to assure Anambra people that the Police Command under his watch will continue to serve the people selflessly despite the risks involved. He urged all citizens to cooperate with the Police in identifying hideouts of insurgents seeking to destabilize the State and truncating development”
“He assured that the Police will jealously protect the sources of its information to protect informers from harm” he said.
