Okey Maduforo, Awka

President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU Bar Titus Agbudo has prevented a looming blood bath in the South East geopolitical zone over the killing of the President General of Umuoji Community in Idemili North local government area Chief Silas Onyima who was allegedly killed by a gunman from Abakaliki Ebony state.

Recall that shortly after he was killed the youths in the area had concluded arrangements to carry out mass killings of every Ebony persons resident in the said community but for the intervention of the ASATU President Agbudo.

Narrating his intervention at a harmonization meeting of the Association of Non Indigenes In Anambra ANIAS Agbudo explained that had it been the plot was executed the entire South East would have been engulfed by a full scale blood bath that would consume lives in Igbo land .

“Why I had to intervene in good time was because the youths in the community had put up a plot to kill everyone from Abakaliki and indeed the entire Ebony state and you know that once they start nobody would be speared and soon the people of Ebony state would start their own reprisal killings”

“With such a bloody and deadly development some people who are neither from Anambra nor Ebony state would be killed and other affected states in Igbo land would join in the reprisal killings and that would have ended up in a blood bath”

“I had to call our people to order before they start what they cannot control and we already have serious security challenges that we are trying to manage or check mate and another one is coming to worsen the situation”

I in conjunction with my fellow President Generals and of course the state government had to reconcile those issues and that looming blood bath was averted ” he said.

Agbudo while reconciling some aggrieved members of the Association of Non Indigenes In Anambra state ANIAS urged the body to see themselves as one family adding that with unity of purpose the body would gain more from Anambra state .

“I am telling this story for you all to appreciate the need for peace and unity among us the entire Igbo people because we are one and this issue of factions is an evil wind that blows nobody any good “

Agbudo reaffirmed the position of Prince Chigozie Nweke as the Interim President of the organization and also reaffirmed the former President Hon Ferguson Okpara as a member Board Of Trustees of the Association.

At his acceptance speech the President Prince Chigozie Nweke expressed happiness with the fatherly intervention of Agbudo adding that it is a new dawn for the Association urging all members to work with him towards actualizing the vision and vision of the body .
