The Director General South East Governors Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife CON has extended deep condolences to the Ezeife family, Anambra State government, the entire Igbo community and Nigeria at large. The Senator in her tribute to the late statesman noted that Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife’s passing leaves an indelible void, even though his legacy as a nationalist and stalwart advocate for Ndigbo resonates profoundly.
Ekwunife who received the Governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma CON who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR earlier today graced the occasion with her husband and pillar of strength, Chief Larry Ekwunife (Ochendo Nri).
“Dr Ezeife’s distinguished service as the first executive governor of Anambra state, a federal permanent secretary, and a political luminary marked a significant chapter in our nation’s history. Dr. Ezeife’s unwavering commitment to the betterment of his people and his pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s sociopolitical sphere makes his loss even more profound.
“Educationally distinguished and politically astute, he not only earned academic laurels but also dedicated himself to the service of our nation. His contributions as a special adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo exemplify his enduring commitment to the ideals of democracy and governance.
“Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, described as an icon, was a figure many Nigerians looked up to, leaving an indelible mark in the sands of time. He spent the greater part of his life working for good governance and humanity, becoming a source of pride not just for the Igbo community but for the entire nation.
“Furthermore, Ezeife’s dedication to the unity of our country did not go unnoticed, as he invested most of his time working towards fostering national cohesion.
“As we mourn this iconic leader, let us be mindful of his enduring legacies, exemplary leadership, and laudable role in democratic transitions of Anambra State and Nigeria at large. May God grant his soul peaceful repose and comfort the bereaved family.
