BREAKING: Former PDP Governor Emeka Ihedioha dumps party

Says the party has taken on a part that is at variance with his personal beliefs

Former Deputy Speaker House of Representatives and Governor Imo State, His Excellency Emeka Ihedioha CON has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

The former governor made this known on Tuesday April 23, 2024 via a letter of resignation addressed to the PDP Chairman of Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State’

Ihedioha in his resignation message hinted on his longstanding commitment and contributions towards the development and transformation of the party, in anticipation of meaningful reforms and credible leadership, but expressed dissatisfaction with the part PDP has taken, which he said was at variance with his personal beliefs.

Meanwhile Ihedioha acknowledged the fact that the party gave him opportunities to serve on its platform and benefit at various levels.

Speaking further, Ihedioha lamented the inability of PDP to provide credible oppositiion to the ruling coalition, All Progressives Congress, APC or even enforce its own rules.

”It is in the light of the above that I am compelled to offer my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party effective immediately.

”While this decision was difficult to take, I however, believe that it is the right one. Despite the resignation, I will always be available to offer my services towards the deepening of democracy and good governance in Nigeria”, he stated.
