A popular Roman Catholic priest Fr Basil Gbuzuo has been reported to have been kidnapped by gunmen.
The incident which was said to have occured on Wednesday May 15th 2024 was along Nkpor – Obosi bypass at around 8am .
According to a release by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Most Rev Valerian Okeke called on Christ faithfuls to pray for the quick and safe release of the priest.
He further noted that intensive efforts are being made to secure the freedom of the priest while the Police Command and other sister security organizations have been informed about the kidnap.
However the abductors are yet to establish any contact with the Archdiocese or with the family of the priest.
Okeke noted that the Catholic Community in Anambra state and beyond are deeply saddened by this incident.
As at the time of writing this report the Anambra state Police Command is yet to make any confirmation about the kidnap.
