As the battle within the ranks of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA rages over the appointment of Transition Committee Chairmen for the twenty one Council Areas there very strong indications that Gov Charles Soludo would return at least ten of the incumbent Chairmen.
At the moment a total of sixty three candidates have been presented across the twenty one Council Areas by the local government stakeholders for the governor to chose only twenty one.
Recall the Soludo had directed the party at the local government level to nominate three candidates for the appointment one as Council Chairman which led to the convening of the stakeholders meeting in the respective local government areas.
According to a reliable source ten out of the twenty one current Transition Committee Chairmen would be returned while eleven would be changed with fresh appointees.
Though the affected local government areas have not been made public Council areas such as Aguata, Onitsha South, Idemili South, Dunukofia, Ekwusigo, Ihiala Orumba North and South are being tipped for a return.
However Council Areas such as Anambra East and West , Onitsha North, Ayamelum, Ogbaru Njikoka and Oyi may not be returned.
Confirming this likely development the Special Adviser to Soludo on Political Matters Dr Alex Obiogbolu said that not all the current Transition Committee Chairmen would go but couldn’t state the affected local government areas.
“It is not possible for all the current Transition Committee Chairmen to go because the governor is also looking at performance and political relevance”
Reacting to the crisis that is lingering as a result of the stakeholders meeting Obiogbolu contended that in a political party there is bound to be differences adding that all the stakeholders may not all agree.
“It is expected that in a game like this there must be gray areas and the stakeholders must have interests and that is politics for you but all would be resolved”
Reacting to the deployment of solders to Fegge Onitsha South local government area Obiogbolu said.
“The presence of those soldiers is for them to keep peace and avert the use of thugs during the stakeholders meeting and it had no intention of disrupting the process”, he said.
