Gov Charles Soludo of Anambra state has sent list of Local government Transition Committee Chairmen to the Anambra state House of Assembly for screening.
Out of the twenty one Council Chairmen that were dissolved eight appointees were returned while thirteen new ones were fresh appointments.
Those that were returned include Onitsha South local government Chief Emeka Joseph Orji, Mrs Amaka Obi Idemili South, Chibuike Ofobuike Aguata local government area Thank God Anago Awka North while Council Chairmen of Onitsha North, Nnewi South as well as that of Njikoka local government areas among others.
According to Gov Soludo this is in fulfillment to section 208 of the local government law 1999 as amended, (number 6 law of 2012), Governor Soludo sent the names of 21 Transition Committee (TC) Chairmen and members for local government in the state whose tenure will be for three months.
Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze after reading the letter at plenary on Wednesday June 19,
referred the letter to the Chairman Screening Committee Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, the Deputy Speaker.
Rt. Hon. Udeze urged the Committee to report back to the House in the next adjourned date.

When contacted over the failed expectations that the Transition Committee Chairmen would be replaced by the elected ones Special Adviser to the governor on Political Matters Dr Alex Obiogbolu explained that the State Electoral Commission is being set up adding that while the finishing touches are being made there cannot be a vacuum in the local government administration.
“Nature is against vacuum and we are still putting finishing touches on the State Electoral Commission and we are on the top of the process of conducting local government area election” he said.
