Senator Uche Ekwunife expresses deep shock over the sad news of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s unprecedented transition which reportedly occurred after a brief illness. Ekwunife disclosed this in her condolence message released on Thursday by her Press Secretary, Tony Ezike, which reads in part;

“The passing of this Iconic Iroko of Igbo extraction, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu leaves an indelible void, yet his legacy of resilience and exemplary leadership shines brightly, illuminating the path for those that look up to him for guidance, mentorship and peaceful coexistence.

“The striking difference between Chief Iwuanyanwu and some of his contemporaries was his ability to acknowledge that every human needs to be seen, heard, recognised for who they are, valued and taken into account, and this explains why he was considered a rallying point for Ndigbo at home and in diaspora, before his painful passing.

“Chief Iwuanyanwu’s unwavering strength in the face of adversity was a testament to his extraordinary character. Despite the trials that beset him along the line, his spirit remained unbroken, and his compassion for others never waned. Even in the throes of illness, this exceptional leader carried on with grace dignity and love for country, a true exemple of fortitude.

“Indeed Chief Iwuanyanwu’s departure has left a profound emptiness in Igbo land, given that his presence was a beacon of light that proffered solutions to some of the region’s sociopolitical challenges. His wisdom and unwavering support are some of the treasures we hold dear, including cherished memories of his legacy achievements that shall endure the passage of time.

“On behalf of my family and staff, I wish to honour the life of this remarkable soul and iconic Igbo leader, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. To us, he was more than a leader; considering the vivid memories of his involvement and interventions in practically anything that concerns Ndigbo generally.

“May Almighty God grant Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu eternal rest, console his family, Ndigbo and Nigerians as a whole.”
