Harnessing Experience and Technology: Dr. Law Mefor Takes Charge as Anambra’s Information Commissioner

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has officially sworn in Dr. Law Mefor as the new Commissioner for Information in Anambra State.

According to a statement released by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary Mr Christian Aburime, the ceremony took place at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Awka.

Governor Soludo highlighted the importance of accurate and timely information in today’s fast-paced world and expressed confidence in Dr. Mefor’s ability to revitalize the state’s information systems, given his vast experience. Dr. Mefor aims to collaborate with media organizations to promote media literacy, ensuring that the public is equipped to critically assess information, reducing the spread of misinformation.

He also outlined plans to modernize the state’s information ministry by integrating technology, making it more efficient and citizen-centered. This will involve leveraging data analytics to support informed policymaking.

With over 25 years of experience as a writer, media personality, and researcher, Dr. Mefor is expected to bring his wealth of knowledge to elevate the role of media in shaping public opinion and discourse in the state.
