Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has successfully elected four internal members to serve on the 10th Governing Council of the institution.
According to a statement from Dr. Emma Ojukwu, Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor on Information and Public Relations, the election of the Senate Representatives took place on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024.
The election was conducted during the 226th Senate Meeting, chaired by Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi. It was overseen by Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Peter Agbonome, and Acting Registrar, Rev. Samuel Ufoh.
The newly elected Senate Representatives are:
- Prof. Pius V.C. Okoye (Department of Accountancy, Dean of Faculty of Management Sciences) – 152 votes.
- Rev. Fr. Prof. Ken Oraegbunam (Department of International Law and Jurisprudence, Faculty of Law) – 119 votes.
- Prof. Tracie Utoh-Ezeajugh (Department of Theatre and Film Studies, Faculty of Arts) – 115 votes.
- Prof. Igwebuike Onyiorah (Department of Anatomical Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Basic Clinical Medicine) – 111 votes
These four members according to information available to Citypost were selected from a pool of 21 nominated candidates.
