As Dr. Tony Nwoye’s Bill Passes Second Reading in the 10th Senate
Dr. Tony Nwoye’s bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Education, Nsugbe has passed its second reading in the Nigerian Senate, bringing his constituents one step closer to hosting a prestigious institution aimed at advancing the academic aspirations of young people in the region.
The Nsugbe community, located in Anambra East Local Government Area, is on the verge of securing a Federal University of Education following this significant legislative progress. The bill, titled “An Act to establish a Federal University of Education, Nsugbe, to provide Training and Teaching in all aspects of Education and Applied Learning to meet Nigeria’s development needs”, was spearheaded by Senator Dr. Tony Nwoye. If passed, it would upgrade the current College of Education in Nsugbe into a full-fledged university.
Leading the debate in plenary, Senator Nwoye highlighted the institution’s potential to revolutionize Nigeria’s educational landscape. “This university will elevate our standard of learning, refocus the educational system, and foster postgraduate studies, ultimately strengthening our nation’s education sector,” he remarked.
The bill garnered overwhelming support from other senators, many of whom underscored the critical role the university would play in meeting the country’s increasing demand for qualified manpower in education.
With unanimous approval following a voice vote, the bill now advances towards becoming law, moving Nsugbe closer to realizing its academic dream.
