Former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, has accused some party leaders of sabotaging the party’s efforts over the past 28 years.
His comments come as the newly elected Chairman, Mr. Chidi Chidebe, establishes seven committees aimed at repositioning the PDP ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State.
Speaking on Thursday at the Anambra State PDP Unity Gala—a combined event serving as a valedictory ceremony for the outgoing Caretaker Committee, a grand reception for newly elected state executives, and a strategic meeting in Awka—Nwobu said:
“Anambra loves the PDP, and the only issue is that those who call themselves our leaders have been accepting money from our opponents and working against the party.”
He continued, “The PDP is back in Anambra State to reclaim its rightful position. If you believe in the PDP, believe with one mind. We are now united, focused, and have purposeful, committed leaders to take the party to greater heights.”
Nwobu urged the newly elected leaders to honor the support of party members and make every effort to restore the PDP as a winning force in the state.
Chidi Chidebe, the PDP Chairman in Anambra State, announced that the seven committees have a four-month mandate to present their findings. He explained that these committees will focus on uniting stakeholders, addressing grievances, and promoting the party to the wider public.
“It is essential for these seven committees to engage stakeholders, address aggrieved members, and showcase the party’s strengths to the outside world,” Chidebe stated.
He assured members that the committees are not intended for witch-hunting but to identify challenges and develop solutions for the future.
Chidebe urged party faithful to support the new executives, pledging his commitment to revitalizing the PDP in Anambra State.
