…As Gunmen Abandon Camps in Umunze Town

By Okey Maduforo
The Anambra security outfit, Agunechemba Security Squad, yesterday smashed a gunmen’s armoury at Enugu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Similarly, gunmen operating in Umunze Community in Orumba South Local Government Area are said to have fled their camps following the arrest of kidnap kingpins in the area last week.
Security operatives confirmed that the arrested kingpin was alleged to be part of the gang that kidnapped a woman and her son and later killed them despite receiving a ransom of about N10 million.
The fleeing of the gunmen appears to be the reason behind some shops remaining under lock and key, as it was gathered that most of those shops are owned by the suspected gunmen.
The security operatives also arrested one of the gang leaders of the gunmen at Enugu-Agidi, who specialized in kidnapping and armed robbery in the area.
According to the Agunechemba News Bulletin from the Office of the Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo on Community Security, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi:
“The Agunechemba Security Squad has busted a kidnappers’ hideout at Enugu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.”
“One of its gang leaders, Mr. Chukwudi Tansi, was also arrested at the hideout, while other members are still at large.”
“Items recovered from the gang’s armoury include the following:
Two AK-47 rifles
Two pump-action guns
Four locally made pistols
Three packets of cartridges, totaling 101 rounds
Four empty magazines of AK-47.
