The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, has been named the Best Police Public Relations Officer in Nigeria.
Ikenga emerged the overall best in a keenly contested recognition involving all 36 state Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The award was instituted by the Inspector General of Police to celebrate excellence in public relations within the Nigeria Police Force.
Reacting to the honour, SP Ikenga described the award as both humbling and a call to greater responsibility. He expressed deep gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force, the Zone 13 Police Command, and the Anambra State Police Command for the platform and opportunity to serve.
“This award does not make me extraordinary. I carry it with the honour of humility and with a fierce determination to do even more,” he stated.
“I have seen men and women who represent the very best of our nation — officers who, through sweat and sacrifice, courage and character, have risen above the call of duty.”
He emphasized the importance of public trust in effective policing, noting: “My greatest resource is the trust of the people we serve, and we are ready to serve you better. Please don’t get tired of assessing us. Your comments inform many of the decisions we make as a Command.”
He concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to its core values.
“Given the above, this award is a commitment and a reaffirmation of the Anambra State Police Command’s greater dedication to protecting with courage and serving with compassion,” he said.
