The Action Peoples Party (APP) has declared itself the most credible alternative among Nigeria’s political parties, urging Nigerians to embrace its democratic ideology following the successful conduct of its Anambra State Congress.
The State Chairman of APP, Hon. Bldr Chukwujiokem Okeke, popularly known as Enyioha Mbaukwu, made the call while addressing journalists shortly after the congress held at Choice Hotel, Awka, on Sunday April 26th, 2026.
He described the party as a viable option for Nigerians, noting that unlike other major political parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Labour Party (LP), the APP remains free from internal crises.
According to him, the party has been restrategised and repositioned to offer credible leadership within Nigeria’s political landscape.
“APP, by virtue of this congress, has provided a viable platform for politicians willing to contest elections and contribute meaningfully to governance in Nigeria,” he said. “I urge aspirants across the country to take advantage of our robust political structure and democratic ideology.”
Okeke commended the National Executive Council of the party under the leadership of Barr. Uche Nnadi for its administrative support and direction, while also appreciating officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for monitoring the exercise.
In his remarks, the State Youth Leader of the party called on young people in Anambra to align with APP, describing it as “the beautiful bride of Nigerian politics” capable of addressing youth unemployment and restiveness, as well as ending what he termed the “promise-and-fail” culture of other parties.
Also speaking, the former governorship candidate of APP in Anambra State and current State Legal Adviser, Barr. Chris Nweke, affirmed that the congress was conducted in strict compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act. He expressed optimism that the party is well-structured for future electoral success.
Similarly, the State Financial Secretary, Comrade Tony Ughanze, described the exercise as a landmark event in the history of the party in Anambra, expressing gratitude for his emergence and pledging to contribute to the party’s growth.
Officials of INEC from the Election and Party Monitoring (EPM) Department, Mr. Kingsley Ajunwa and Mr. Nonso Okolo, who monitored the exercise, confirmed that the congress was conducted peacefully, with executives duly elected at ward, local government, and state levels.
