The Anambra State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the death of Miss Chilaka Vivian, an ND II Nursing student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor, whose lifeless body was reportedly discovered in her residence at Uruezeani, Alor.
According to information gathered, the tragic incident occurred on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Reports indicate that the deceased had allegedly been subjected to repeated unwanted advances by her landlord, Mr. Ogochukwu Ugoeze, which she reportedly rejected on several occasions. It was further alleged that an altercation ensued after the landlord confronted her at her residence, leading to circumstances that investigators are currently working to establish.
Sources familiar with the matter claimed that the student sustained multiple stab wounds during the incident and was pronounced dead thereafter. Following the development, the landlord reportedly presented himself at a police station, alleging that an unidentified intruder had entered his compound and killed his tenant while he was asleep.
However, preliminary investigations reportedly uncovered several inconsistencies in the account provided by the suspect. Investigators are said to have discovered bloodstains not only inside the deceased’s room but also in sections of the landlord’s residence, including his sitting room, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Residents of the area also reportedly drew attention to the presence of a guard dog within the compound, describing it as highly alert and known for barking at unusual movements or disturbances. This, according to sources, has become one of the issues being examined by investigators as they seek to verify the sequence of events.
The suspect has since been taken into custody for further questioning, while the case has reportedly been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for detailed investigation. Police authorities have assured members of the public that a thorough and impartial inquiry will be conducted to establish the facts and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the tragic death of the young nursing student has sparked widespread grief and concern among residents, students, and members of the Alor community, who have called on security agencies to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the incident.
